One of the few non-Tata EVs to be sold on the affordable end, the Citroen eC3 hasn’t had a great outing at the Global NCAP, having scored zero stars for adult occupant safety, and just one star for child occupant safety.
The model tested this time around was fitted with two airbags as standard, and the bodyshell integrity has been rated ‘stable’. In terms of adult occupant safety, the eC3 scored 20.86 stars out of 34.00. This resulted in the Citroen scoring zero stars, as GNCAP stated it offers poor protection to both the driver and the front passenger. In terms of child occupant safety, the eC3 scored 10.55 out of 49.00 points, thereby granting it one star. However, it does not offer side airbags, ESC, three point seatbelts to all five occupants, and a passenger airbag disconnect switch.
With the Bharat NCAP coming into full swing, this was among final tests in GNCAP’s ‘safer cars for India’ campaign. However, there is hope after all; back in February, Citroen had announced it will start offering six airbags, ISOFIX seat anchorage, and rear seatbelt reminder as standard features across its lineup from the second half of 2024 onwards.
