Land Rover has added a petrol option to the all-diesel lineup of the Discovery Sport. The engine is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder, producing 237 bhp and will be sold only in the top-end HSE trim for Rs 56.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The petrol is paired with a nine-speed automatic and comes equipped with Land Rover’s Terrain Response system which acts as the central brain of the all-wheel-drive system, distributing power and torque automatically. Along with the Terrain Response system, the driver can also choose among different road conditions with further optimizes the way in which the system distributes power. Other driving aids include Hill Descent Control, Roll Stability Control and Park Assist – which not only helps in parallel parking, but can also park the car perpendicularly too. Since it available only in the higher HSE trim, it gets features like Xenon headlamps and a panoramic sunroof as standard. Also, an option, is the 5+2 seating arrangement.
Other than the petrol the 2.2-litre diesel engines are still on sale, in two engine tunes. However, with the government clamping down on diesel engines with a capacity greater than 2.0-litre, Land Rover will be looking to replace these with their new family of Ingenium 2.0-litre diesels.
