Porsche’s most powerful road-legal car with a naturally aspirated engine has been launched at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show. It’s called the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and if you’re a fan of the Stuttgart-based carmaker, then the sound of this alone can have you jumping off your chair. Quite literally, too, because only a few other cars sound as glorious, fewer reach the 9k rev limiter, and even fewer make that sound with six horizontally opposed pistons.
The naturally aspirated flat-six 4-litre engine makes 513 bhp, and has the ability to push the car to 100 kph from a standstill in 3.2 seconds. It also boasts a 312 kph top speed, rear axle steering, newly developed rims, rigid rear wing, lightweight panels, new rear lid, carbon-fibre bucket seats, a no-cost Clubsport package, etc.
A 7-speed PDK gearbox is the only choice on the car, but that’s justifiable since the GT3 RS is more track focussed than anything else in the current range. To add to that, one can also opt for the Weissach pack, which brings the weight down to about 1430 kg.
There’s hardly a doubt that it’s the most sonorous engine in the post-Mezger range, with a 9k rev range. It’s also less taxing on the environment, with a combined fuel consumption of 12.8 litres per 100 km, and a CO2 emission of 291 gram per km.
Porsche India began accepting orders last month, and you can get one here at Rs 2.75 crore onwards. You can read more about the car here.
