In an increased focus on producing and manufacturing models in India, Mercedes-Benz has launched the first-ever locally manufactured AMG model in the country. The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe is the 11th Completely Knocked Down (CKD) product from Mercedes-Benz India and is the 8th SUV launched by the brand since December 2019. In fact, the AMG GLE 53 launched earlier has already been sold out for 2020. Mercedes currently produces the entire GLC line-up right here in India.
Under the hood, there’s a 2996cc, Bi-Turbo V6 which produces 385 bhp and 53.02 kgm of torque. It comes mated to a 9G-Tronic TCT AMG Speedshift gearbox and can do 0-100 km/hr in just 4.9 seconds (claimed). Top speed stands at a claimed 250 km/hr. It also comes equipped with the brand’s MBUX and Mercedes me connectivity features. To make things more interesting, it also comes with features like AMG Ride Control + and AMG Performance Exhaust System.
On the safety front, the AMG GLC 43 Coupe gets 7 airbags, Active Brake Assist, Active Bonnet and a whole lot more. Other than that, customers can now enjoy the benefits of 20-inch alloy wheels, 10.25-inch touchscreen system, HD navigation MMC, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and Burmester Sound System, thanks to the fact that the AMG GLC 43 Coupe is now made in India. We do hope other brands with prominent performance models do sit up and take notice of this latest development.
