Honda has announced that their Mobilio-based compact SUV, the BR-V is going to be launched on May 5th. It has been sometime coming since Honda had previewed the BR-V last year at their test facility at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Japan, and had unveiled the product to the Indian audience at this years Auto Expo.
The BR-V, based on the platform that underpins the Mobilio is expected to take the fight to the Hyundai Creta. Although, unlike the Creta, the BR-V looks more like a beefed up Mobilio with its stretched out side-profile and similar window line. Unlike the Creta though, the BR-V is a seven seater, and is longer than the Creta. At launch the BRV will be available with the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol with a six speed manual or a CVT option, and the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel from the Mobilio which would only be available with a manual.
