No matter how accommodating your definition of a design genius is, there’s no denying that Hyundai was anything but that, back in the late 90s when the company made its Indian debut. Look at Hyundai now and you’ll know how far they’ve come. The cars are — and were — well-rounded, but now to complement that, the designs have, in the past few years, have been one of the best in the segments where Hyundai offers its products.
A testament to the company’s new approach is the Red Dot Design Award that the new Kona (India-bound) and NEXO FCV have received. It’s the fifth consecutive year Hyundai’s been awarded or has been included as a Honourable Mention. The company has received a total of ten Red Dot Design awards yet.
The Kona SUV, which the company showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in February this year, is quite a departure from the conventional, boxy SUV looks. One look at it, and you’ll see why the futuristic-looking front end is a clear winner. With the NEXO, the company further establishes its stance in the adoption of fuel sources other than fossil fuels. The hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered electric vehicle also comes with a huge range.
