Finally, there’s a 4×4 in Maruti Suzuki’s lineup after a long time. The five-door Jimny has been launched at a starting price of Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in two trims: Zeta and Alpha.
A 1.5-litre K-series engine with Idle Start-Stop technology powers the Jimny. The engine produces 103 bhp at 6000 rpm and 13.68 kgm at 4000 rpm and is coupled to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Maruti claims a fuel efficiency of 16.94 kpl for the 5-speed MT and 16.39 kpl for the 4-speed AT. The Jimny has a three-link rigid axle suspension and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro four-wheel drive system with low-range transfer gear (4L mode). It also allows for on-the-fly conversion from 2H (two-wheel drive) to 4H (four-wheel drive).
On the features front, it gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connections. There are also six airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, ESP, Brake Limited Slip Differential, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, ISOFIX, and a Rear View Camera, among others.
