It’s been quite a while since McLaren finally entered India, and nearly nine months after debuting the 750S globally, the British car maker has launched it here, with prices starting from Rs 5.91 crore (ex-showroom). The McLaren 750S is based on the 720S, but with a bunch of improvements over its predecessor.
Let’s pop the hood, shall we? The McLaren 750S is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, packing 730 horses and 81.57 kgm of torque. Triple digits appear in just 2.8 seconds, with the 750S hitting a top speed of 332 kmph; we wouldn’t suggest eating a hearty meal before getting behind the wheel of this one. It is important to note that this engine is not backed by any electrical assistance whatsoever. In simple terms, no hybrid setup here, unlike the Lamborghini Revuelto. To bring the 750S to a stop, McLaren has deployed carbon ceramic discs with a brake booster function.
At a dry weight figure of 1,277 kg, the McLaren 750S is 30 kg lighter than the 720S. In fact, weight reduction is the theme here, with the 750S making use of lightweight materials wherever possible, such as the 10-spoke ultra lightweight forged alloy wheels, carbon-fibre shelled racing seats, lighter springs and dampers reducing weight by 2 kg, along with a 1.8 kg lighter instrument cluster, and a lightweight windscreen among other things.
McLaren also says the 750S features better downforce and aerodynamics than the 720S. It also gets the Proactive Chassis Control linked-hydraulic suspension, with a lift function because our roads are, let’s say incredibly good for the lack of a better word. If you’re looking to unleash the full potential of the 750S, it comes equipped with variable drift control, an electro-hydraulic steering system, three driving modes, launch control, and separate modes for powertrain and handling among other things. The 750S also comes equipped with a 360-degree camera, Apple CarPlay, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system and more.
The McLaren 750S comes with a eye-watering (and dream-shattering) price tag of Rs 5.91 crore (ex-showroom), and it can be ordered in both Coupe and Spider trims.
