After more than a decade of redefining what a performance hatchback could be, Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the A 45 S Final Edition — a limited-run, final, version of one of the quickest, most powerful and most technically advanced hot hatches of our times. While there are no mechanical changes, the farewell model gains exclusive styling touches that distinguish it from the standard A 45 S.
Buyers can choose between Manufaktur Mountain Grey Magno or Night Black Uni paint, both complemented by contrasting yellow graphics and detailing. There are yellow ’45 S’ decals on the doors, while the mirror caps and bodywork receive matching accents. The yellow theme continues inside the cabin. It gets AMG Performance seats trimmed in artico man-made leather and microcut microfibre with yellow contrast stitching and embroidered ’45 S’ logos on the headrests. Matching stitching extends to the steering wheel, dashboard and door panels. It also has unique floor mats, illuminated AMG door sills and a ‘Final Edition’ badge on the centre console.
At its heart remains AMG’s hand-built 2-litre M139 turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine. Producing 421 bhp and 500 Nm, it continues to hold the title of the world’s most powerful series-production four-cylinder engine. Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and the brand’s fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. Performance remains unchanged, with the sprint from 0 to 100 kph dispatched in a claimed 3.9 seconds before the electronically limited 270 kph top whack.
Standard equipment also includes the AMG Aerodynamics Package, which adds a larger front splitter, front canards, and a larger rear spoiler — all finished in gloss black. Completing the exterior are lightweight 19-inch forged alloy wheels finished in matte black with a yellow stripe.
Mercedes-AMG has not confirmed a direct successor to the A 45 S, making this Final Edition a fitting farewell to a model that consistently pushed the boundaries of the segment. It commands a premium of £4,220 (approx Rs 4 lakh) over the standard A45 S and is priced from £67,965 (approximately Rs 79 lakh in the UK). While it doesn’t receive any mechanical upgrades or have a fixed production run, it represents the final opportunity for enthusiasts to own one of the finest and most capable hot hatchbacks of the modern era.
