Say you’ve wanted to buy a C-Class, but you’ve been wishing for a little more oomph and sass, perhaps? Mercedes-Benz has not only heard your wishes, but also answered them with this — the Mercedes-AMG C 43, which now returns to our market, this time as a proper five-door sedan as opposed to a coupe from the last time on.
The Mercedes-AMG C 43 has plenty to talk about when it comes to stuff under the hood. It is the first series-production car to feature an electric turbocharger. The AMG C 43 has ditched the V6 for a 2-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol, which churns out 396 bhp and 50.8 kgm of torque. This powertrain also receives a 48V mild-hybrid setup, and is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
On the outside, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 is decked out with treatment that won’t make it go under ze radar for sure. The Panamericana grille, restyled bumpers, a diffuser, 18-inch alloy wheels, and the quad tailpipes certainly help it stand out, which is something we can say now that we’ve seen it in flesh. The AMG C 43 also receives 19 and 20-inch alloy wheels as an option.
The insides are just as much decked out as the outside, perhaps even more, in order to emphasise the sporty nature and intentions of this car. It gets black leather upholstery with red stitching and red seat belts, along with an AMG-specific flat-bottom steering wheel, pedals, floor mats, and illuminated door sills. There’s also a 11.9-inch infotainment touch screen and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster with AMG-specific displays and functions.
For those looking to know about goodies, the AMG C 43 comes with a rear-axle steering wheel, AMG-specific drive modes, a race data logger, adaptive suspension, an AMG-specific exhaust system, a ‘race start’ function, an AMG-specific braking system, and a 360-degree camera among other things.
“Hey Mercedes, when are we getting to drive it?”
