What costs close to Rs 2.45 crore and is electric? It is the all-new Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 and the German brand’s first all-electric sedan to enter the Indian market. Before this, Mercedes-Benz kicked off its electric innings in India with the launch of its all-electric SUV, the EQC in 2020.
And if you didn’t notice already this EQS has AMG in its name. It is the go-fast version of the EQS and also the flagship version. Eventually, Mercedes will launch other variants like the EQS 450+ and EQS 580. Coming back to the AMG EQS 53, it produces 762 bhp and 104.01 kgm of torque from its 107.8-kWh battery pack. It sends power to all four wheels via a 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, which means that it can go from 0-100 kph in 3.4 seconds — enough to smoke any modern-day supercar. With a range of 586 km, long-distance trips shouldn’t be a task either.
In a car as luxurious as this, long-distance trips should be a breeze. The EQS gets a plush Space Grey interior, an AMG-spec Nappa leather flat-bottom steering wheel, AMG-spec sport pedals, a giant 56-inch Hyperscreen that spans the length of the dashboard, biometric authentication (fingerprint, face, or voice), ambient lighting, OTA updates, HUD, drive modes, MBUX connectivity, MBUX rear seat tablet, 710-W, 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound music system, rear axle steering and nine airbags. The list goes beyond this, of course.
But what about the service and warranty? Mercedes is offering a battery warranty of 10 years or 2.5 lakh kilometres. As for servicing, you’ll have to service the EQS once every two years or 30,000 kilometres. Isn’t that stunning? As for us, we are eagerly waiting to drive this incredible piece of machinery.
