Are you someone who’s looking to buy an EV, but you’re also a fan of the three-pointed star? So far, Mercedes-Benz’ EV lineup has consisted of cars that are either too big or too expensive. That’s set to change with the EQA, which will rival the likes of the BMW iX1, the Volvo Recharge siblings, Kia EV6, and possibly the upcoming Mini Cooper EV.
The Mercedes-Benz EQA is essentially an all-electric version of the GLA, and while there are multiple trim levels available globally, the car maker seems to be bringing the EQA 250+. This trim gets a 70.5 kWh battery pack, with a claimed range of 560 km on a single charge. An 11 kW AC charger will take a claimed 7 hours and 15 minutes for a full charge, while a 100 kW DC fast charger claims to charge the battery from 10-80% in just 35 minutes.
Performance-wise, the EQA 250+ produces 187 bhp and 39.25 kgm of peak torque, with triple digits coming up in a claimed 8.6 seconds, while maxing out at an electronically-limited top speed of 160 kph.
In terms of appearances, the EQA does resemble its combustion-powered sibling, but it also gets differentiating bits of course. The most obvious one is the closed-off panel with the tri-star treatment on the nose, while the Mercedes-Benz logo takes centrestage. A DRL also connects the headlights just above the panel. The profile will remind you of the GLA, but the EQA receives larger 19-inch alloy rims, and lastly, the tailgate receives the connected tail-lights treatment, appearing similar to the EQB.
Our review of the Mercedes-Benz EQA comes soon; stay tuned to find out what the most affordable EV from Mercedes-Benz feels like.
