MG Select is introducing Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) for the MG Cyberster and MG M9, offering luxury EV buyers a more accessible ownership proposition. Under the introductory BaaS pricing, the MG Cyberster is available at ₹72.49 lakh plus a battery rental of ₹8.00 per kilometre, while the MG M9 is priced at ₹69.99 lakh plus the same ₹8.00 per kilometre battery rental.
The scheme delivers significant upfront savings for buyers. The MG Cyberster, priced at ₹82.50 lakh under the non-BaaS model, sees a saving of ₹10.01 lakh. The MG M9, which costs ₹79.95 lakh without BaaS, offers a saving of ₹9.96 lakh. These figures do not account for the battery rental fee payable over the vehicle’s lifetime.

No other changes have been made to either model. The Cyberster continues to be offered with a 77kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of 580km. It features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 510 bhp and 725Nm. The M9 comes with a larger 90kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of 548km. It is powered by a front-axle-mounted electric motor producing 245 bhp.
The BaaS model allows customers to pay for the battery separately through a per-kilometre rental, reducing the initial purchase price of the vehicle. This approach is increasingly being adopted by EV manufacturers globally to lower the entry barrier for electric vehicles while retaining flexibility for owners based on their usage patterns. For MG Select, the move aims to strengthen its position in India’s growing luxury EV segment by addressing cost concerns without compromising on the performance and range that define both the Cyberster and the M9.
