MG Motor JSW India has launched their third electric vehicle in the Indian market, the MG Windsor EV at an introductory price of INR 9.99 lakh. On top of that, you need to pay INR 3.5/km for the Battery as a Service. Here’s a crash course on the MG Windsor EV.

While the Windsor might be labeled as a CUV (that’s Compact Utility Vehicle for those keeping score), it’s hard to ignore its MPV-esque silhouette. Borrowed from the Wuling Cloud EV, this rebadged model comes with a few notable design elements. Think vertically stacked headlamps with projectors, wide LED light bars stretching across the front and rear, and a charging port that discreetly sits on the left front fender. The chunky alloy wheels and flush door handles add a dash of modern flair, while an integrated spoiler rounds off the look, presumably for a bit of aerodynamic posturing.

Inside, MG is pushing the ‘CUV’ tag to its limits with a spacious cabin that could easily double as a lounge on wheels. The two-spoke multifunction steering wheel is standard fare, but it’s the black upholstery, ambient lighting, and panoramic sunroof that aim to add a bit of luxury to the experience. But the real party trick? The aero-lounge rear seats. These come with a 135-degree recline function, promising a level of comfort typically reserved for more premium segments. Then there’s the 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen — the largest in its class — taking center stage for all your connectivity and entertainment needs.

The Windsor EV gets one battery options: a 37.9 kWh pack, which clocks in at 330 km on a full charge and producing 134 bhp of power and 20.39 kgm of torque. The Windsor looks set to offer a decent range for those looking to make the switch to electric, whether it’s for daily city commutes or longer weekend getaways.

The Windsor EV will soon find itself squaring off against established players like the BYD e6 in the all-electric MPV/CUV segment. The competition is heating up, and the Windsor’s success will largely depend on how good of a value it provides against its competitors.

In short, the MG Windsor EV is shaping up to be another option in the growing EV landscape, offering a blend of modern design, tech-heavy interiors, and competitive range figures. Stay tuned for the first drive review, which will be live on Motoring World soon enough!
