The all-new, second-generation MINI Countryman has been launched in India at Rs 34.9 lakh onwards. More spacious than before, the new iteration of the crossover is also better equipped. Deliveries will begin in June 2018.
Engine choices include a 2-litre turbocharged petrol unit that makes 189 bhp and 28.57 kgm. It’s claimed to shoot to 100 kph from a standstill in 7.5 seconds, whereas the top speed is 225 kph. Bound to be more popular, the 2-litre diesel isn’t too far in terms of performance. It makes 187 bhp and 40.81 kgm, manages 0-100 kph in 7.7 seconds, and boasts a top speed of 220 kph. Both versions get an 8-speed automatic gearbox, but if you choose the JCW-pack-equipped MINI Countryman Cooper S JCW Inspired (quite a name), there are paddle shifters available, too.
The Cooper S (petrol) is priced at Rs 34.90 lakh, while the Cooper SD (diesel) is a tad dearer at Rs 37.40. The Countryman Cooper S JCW Inspired tops the range at Rs 41.40 lakh. All these prices are ex-showroom, and effective from June 2018.
In terms of features, the MINI crossover gets a gesture-controlled tailgate, cruise control, LED headlamps, a choice of 6.5-inch infotainment unit or an 8.8-inch touchscreen one, etc. There are five colours to choose from: Island Blue, Light White, Chilli Red, Melting Silver, and Thunder Grey. The JCW Inspired will also be available in an exclusive British Racing Green (ooh) shade, too.
