Mini India clearly isn’t done having fun, and the latest proof comes in the form of the Cooper S Victory Edition, launched at Rs. 57.50 lakh, ex-showroom. It’s a limited-run model, brought in as a CBU, with bookings already open and deliveries quietly getting underway.
What this really is is a rolling tribute to Mini’s legendary 1965 Monte Carlo Rally win. And it wears that history loud and proud. Finished in a striking Chilli Red, the car gets a contrasting white stripe that runs across the bonnet, roof, and tail, while ‘52’ graphics and subtle ‘1965’ badges tie it back to that iconic race car. Throw in a blacked-out roof and a set of 18-inch JCW alloys, and it looks every bit like a modern-day throwback with attitude.
Step inside, and the theme continues. You get JCW sport seats wrapped in Vescin Black upholstery, along with ‘1965’ detailing scattered across the cabin to remind you this isn’t just another Cooper S. Front and centre sits Mini’s circular OLED touchscreen running Operating System 9, paired with a head-up display, Harman Kardon sound system, and all the connected tech you’d expect at this price point.
Under the hood, things stay familiar but still punchy. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 204 bhp and 30.6 kgm of torque, sent to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Mini claims a 0 to 100 kmph sprint in 6.6 seconds, with a top speed of 242 kph.
Limited, loud, and dripping with nostalgia, this one’s clearly aimed at buyers who want their hot hatch with a bit more story behind it.
