Lexus ES is getting ready for its next act in India, with Lexus India confirming that the all-new generation of the luxury sedan will officially arrive on 20 March. The launch comes nearly a year after the model made its global debut, and it signals the brand’s intent to keep its hybrid-led strategy firmly on track in the Indian luxury market.

While Lexus has yet to reveal the full India-spec details, electrification is expected to remain at the heart of the ES lineup. Globally, the latest ES is offered with a range of electrified powertrains, stretching from hybrid systems to fully electric variants. For India, however, the focus will most likely remain on strong hybrids, continuing the formula that has made the ES one of the brand’s most popular models here.

Two hybrid versions are expected to headline the lineup: the ES300h and ES350h. Both are built around a 2.5-litre petrol engine paired with Lexus’s self-charging hybrid system, though the two variants differ in power output and performance. Depending on the specification, the sedan could also offer both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive layouts, broadening its appeal in the premium segment.

Visually, the new-generation ES adopts a sharper and more modern look. The bodywork features cleaner lines, slimmer lighting signatures and a longer wheelbase, which not only enhances its road presence but also promises a roomier cabin for passengers.

Inside, Lexus is expected to introduce a more minimalist interior layout. A larger central touchscreen, paired with the brand’s latest infotainment interface, should headline the dashboard, giving the ES a more contemporary and technology-focused feel.

With the launch date now locked in, the updated ES looks set to continue Lexus’s quiet but confident presence in India’s luxury sedan space.
