Mahindra’s iconic Bolero Neo is gearing up for a major evolution, as fresh spy shots confirm that the next-generation model is deep into testing. Internally codenamed U171, the upcoming Bolero Neo is expected to debut as a concept on 15 August 2025, with an official market launch anticipated by late 2025 or early 2026.

Judging by the latest images, Mahindra is going for the Bolero’s timeless ruggedness with contemporary styling cues to appeal to both rural and urban buyers. The test mule flaunts squared wheel arches and flush-fitting door handles, creating a cleaner, more aerodynamic look. A flat roofline — reminiscent of upscale SUVs like the Land Rover Defender — adds a modern edge while preserving its classic boxy charm.
Up front, circular LED projector headlights, likely inspired by the Thar Roxx, flank a bold vertically slatted grille adorned with Mahindra’s latest ‘Twin Peaks’ logo. Larger alloy wheels and sleeker ORVMs (outside rear-view mirrors) further elevate its road presence, hinting that the new Bolero Neo aims to deliver rugged capability with a touch of premium appeal.
While the new Bolero Neo remains under the sub-four-metre mark — crucial for tax benefits in India — it doesn’t compromise on its signature practicality. The SUV retains a side-hinged tailgate with a rear-mounted spare wheel and the familiar vertical tail lamps, staying true to its no-nonsense utility roots.
Perhaps the biggest change lies beneath the skin. Mahindra is moving away from the traditional ladder-frame chassis to its advanced New Flexible Architecture (NFA) — a modular monocoque platform designed to support a variety of powertrains. Expect petrol and diesel options (including a likely 1.5-litre turbo-petrol), with hybrid and fully electric versions in the pipeline.
Though the interior remains unseen, leaks suggest major tech upgrades: a larger touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). There’s also talk of a three-row seating layout, improved boot space thanks to ditching old-school jump seats, and enhanced safety features including multiple airbags, ESC, and parking aids.
All eyes are now on the 15 August 2025 concept unveiling. If Mahindra delivers on its promises, the new Bolero Neo could reinvent itself as the perfect blend of off-road durability, urban sophistication, and future-ready technology — keeping its legendary badge relevant for years to come.
