The Mahindra Thar has been unveiled at last, and it’ll be available in two versions, the AX and LX Series. Engine options include a 150 bhp 2.0-litre TGDi petrol engine and a 130 bhp 2.2-litre diesel. Both a 6-speed AT and a 6-speed manual with a 4×4 transfer case are available.
It retains its off-road ability with a mechanical locking differential on the rear axle, 41.8-degree approach angle, 36.8-degree departure angle and 27-degree ramp over angle. Water wading depth capacity of 650 mm and 226 mm of ground clearance help you clear obstacles easily.
Outside, the Thar gets LED DRLs, LED taillights, front fog lamps, 18-inch alloys, dual-tone bumpers and three roof options to choose from.
Inside, it gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets adventure stat customizable gauges which include the G-monitor, compass, wheel angle, torque, gear indicator, speed and power.
On the safety front, it gets dual airbags, ABS+EBD, ESP with rollover mitigation, hill-hold and hill-descent control, built-in roll-cage with 3-point seat belts for all passengers, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
