The third-generation Duster has finally arrived in India, having made its global debut in late 2023. The India-spec model features notable differences compared to its global counterpart, though it retains the familiar, rugged aesthetic. This includes the characteristic boxy silhouette and chunky wheel arch cladding, contributing to its macho appearance. Design updates include new headlamps, connected taillamps, and plastic cladding on the tailgate. Built on the Renault Group’s Modular Platform, the new Duster boasts a high level of localisation at 90 per cent.
Inside, the new Duster has a spacious cabin with a large 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with in-built Google, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charger, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a six-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats, and much more.
Powering the third-gen Duster is a 1.3-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine with a decent 160 bhp and 28.55 kgm on offer, mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It also gets a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine (shared with the Kiger) producing 99 bhp and 16.3 kgm, and solely mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. There’s also a 1.8-litre strong-hybrid engine mated to an 8-speed transmission.
Renault is also offering a 7-year warranty on the new Duster, which can be transferred to the new owner in case the first owner plans to sell the car before the 7 years are over. The Duster faces serious competition from the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Tata Sierra, Mahindra Thar Roxx and Honda Elevate.
