Carlos Sainz commits his future to Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd. agreeing to a multi-year deal to race alongside Alex Albon. The 29-year-old was on the hunt for a seat for 2025 after losing his Ferrari drive to seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Sainz had several offers, with Williams, Sauber/Audi, and Alpine all keen to sign him. Ultimately, James Vowles’ Williams project secured the Spaniard’s approval. He will race for the team in 2025 and 2026, providing Williams with continuity as they navigate major regulation changes, including a new aerodynamic profile and power unit rules featuring 100% sustainable fuel.
Williams team boss, James Vowles remarked that Carlos joining Williams is a strong statement of intent from both parties. He praised Sainz’s talent and race-winning pedigree, highlighting the team’s upward trajectory. Vowles believes that the combination of Alex and Carlos will create one of the most formidable driver line-ups on the grid, guiding the team into the new regulations in 2026.
With Sainz’s confirmation, Logan Sargeant will also vacate his Williams seat next year. The team has expressed support for Sargeant as he continues his racing career into the future.
Will this racewinner get Williams back to the sheer dominance they once had? Stay tuned to find out!
