Hyundai Motors India hosted its first ‘Samarth Assistive Devices Conclave’ today, showcasing its commitment to leveraging technology for empowerment. Under Hyundai Motor India’s ‘Samarth by Hyundai’ social initiative, the event, in collaboration with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, distributed 72 technologically advanced assistive devices. This marks a significant milestone in Hyundai’s journey toward a more inclusive society for people with disabilities.
Through its Samarth Assistive Devices Programme and the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, Hyundai aims to distribute a total of 684 assistive devices over the next three years. These devices include hearing aids, wheelchairs, digital kits for the visually impaired, bionic limbs, and other innovations, all designed to enhance mobility, vision, hearing, and communication capabilities.
The day-long conclave facilitated crucial dialogues on topics such as enabling inclusion through assistive devices, the challenges surrounding disability in India, and investment in assistive technologies for para sports. Distinguished panellists, including Vineet Saraiwala, Founder & CEO of Atypical Advantage; Arman Ali, Executive Director of the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP); Aditya Mehta, Founder, Aditya Mehta Foundation; and Inshah Bashir, Wheelchair Basketball player, shared their perspectives. They underscored the urgent need for awareness and accessibility of assistive devices to foster a truly inclusive society.
Speaking at the event, Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai Motor India Limited, emphasized Hyundai’s commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities through technology. He stated that Hyundai Motor India not only manufactures cars but also believes in empowering society. Under the pillars of Earth, Mobility, and Hope, Hyundai undertakes social initiatives aligned with its global vision of ‘Continue’ and ‘Progress for Humanity’.
Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, Founder and Managing Trustee of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, echoed these sentiments. He noted that progress for humanity means empowering every individual to reach their full potential. The collaboration with Hyundai Motor India under the ‘Samarth’ initiative is a significant step toward creating an inclusive society where technology and compassion converge to enhance the lives of people with disabilities.
