So, we now have a fair idea of what Skoda has under the camouflaged wrap of its all-new premium midsize sedan — the Slavia. If it does look even remotely close to the design sketches that we see here then we surely think it’s got the potential to sail handsomely in the SUV wave.
The Slavia is based on Volkswagen’s MQB-A0-IN platform and is longer (4541 mm), wider (1752 mm) and taller (1487 mm) than the first-generation Octavia. As far as safety is concerned, as per Global NCAP standards and will be available with six airbags as standard.
On the performance front, the Slavia gets a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI motor that makes 113 bhp, and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI with 148 bhp. The standard transmission is a 6-speed manual, and the smaller engine gets an optional 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the 1.5 can be specced with a 7-speed DSG. Skoda India did let us drive the camouflaged version, you can read all about it here.
For now, we’ve set our eyes on its global premiere that will happen later by the end of this month.
