Tata Motors has unveiled the Nexon iCNG alongside some improvements to its Nexon.ev lineup, including a new 45 kWh battery pack and the flagship Red Hot #DARK edition. This marks a milestone for Tata, as the Nexon becomes India’s first vehicle available with four distinct powertrains: petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric.
The Nexon iCNG is powered by India’s first turbocharged CNG powertrain. Its 1.2L turbocharged engine delivers 100 bhp and 17.3 kgm of torque, ensuring high performance without compromise. The innovative twin-cylinder technology also provides a decent boot space of 321 litres. The onboard ECU allows direct starts in CNG mode and automatic switching between petrol and CNG using a single ECU.
In terms of comfort and luxury, the Nexon iCNG is no different from its other siblings. It is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, leatherette ventilated seats, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen by Harman, paired with a fully digital instrument cluster.
For those who pay Rs. 17.19 lakh, they will receive the dark edition. Similar to putting your phone in dark mode, there is no real value beyond the aesthetic shift – but, hey, there’s always the bragging rights for a blacked-out car.
The Nexon iCNG continues the trend with a 5-star G-NCAP-rated architecture. It includes advanced safety features such as leak detection, a fire protection device, thermal incident protection, and rear impact protection, providing unparalleled safety for both drivers and passengers.
