It’s not unknown how Tata’s new products are helping the company regain momentum in the market, and it’s evident in the company’s sales figures, too. In February 2018, Tata Motors has managed to achieve an overall growth of 38 per cent. The exports meanwhile took a slight hit with a decline of 3 per cent. These figures are in comparison to those of February 2017.
At 17,771 passenger vehicles sold in February, Tata recorded a strong 45 per cent increase in despatches. From April 2017-Feb 2018, Tata’s sold 167,055 units, which is an increase of 21 per cent over the sales made in the same period during the corresponding period in the previous FY. The passenger car segment last month grew 17 per cent for Tata (courtesy of the Tiago and Tigor), but the UV space showed massive increase in demand — by 165 per cent —which is due to the introduction of the new Tata Nexon compact SUV.
In the commercial vehicles segment, Tata managed to sell 41,222 units, which is a growth of 36 per cent over February 2017. The cumulative (April 2017-February 2018) growth is recorded at 21 per cent. The highest gainer among commercial vehicle segments is the I&LCV market, where Tata managed to sell 4,810 units last month and thus recorded a growth of 54 per cent. The SCV Cargo and pickup’s sales also increased by 50 per cent, at 16,014 units.
