The combination of an automatic gearbox and a panoramic sunroof is now a little more accessible, thanks to the introduction of the new XTA+ variants by Tata. Both the Harrier and the Safari get the XTA+ variants, the former is priced at Rs 19.14 lakh and the latter is priced at Rs 20.08 lakh. Oh, and if you’re inclined towards the Harrier XTA+ Dark edition, it is priced at Rs 19.34 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
In addition to the panoramic sunroof and automatic gearbox, the XTA+ variants get a bunch of other features as well. For instance, it gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display which comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight-speaker audio system, auto climate control, rain-sensing wipers, mood lighting, among others. What it does miss out on is the 7-inch instrument cluster, terrain response modes, hill descent control, six-way power-adjustable seats, premium upholstery and auto-dimming internal rearview mirror.
There’s no real change to the exteriors or internals of both the cars, of course. Both are still powered by the same 168-bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 35.69 kgm of torque, paired to a 6-speed auto ‘box. Now, this new variant will save you a considerable amount of money on things that you can compromise for these two features. We think, the Dark Edition on the Safari would look bonkers. Just hope that Tata is listening to us as well.
