Tata has launched its latest product, the Tiago (the car formerly known as ‘Zica’) at a beginning price of Rs 3.2 lakh for the base-model petrol, ex-showroom, Delhi. The base diesel costs Rs 4 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
The Tiago will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 but is more modern in many ways – this is a completely new platform and driveline, and feels like it as well. We’ve come away impressed with the product (read all about it here) but we’re not amused by the introductory pricing strategy, which doesn’t give us a real idea of what the price of the product will actually be.
Dual airbags and ABS with EBD are optional on even the top-spec variants – spec them with the safety and they cost Rs 4.9 lakh for the petrol and Rs 5.7 lakh for the diesel.
