Tata Motors announced two new variants of the Harrier SUV, the XMAS and XMS. The XMS variant sits between the XM and the XT variants and is only available in a manual transmission version. The Harrier XMS is on offer for an introductory price of Rs 17.20 Lakh (ex-showroom). The XMAS variant sits between the XMA and the XTA+ variants and is available only in an automatic transmission version. Tata Motors is offering the Harrier XMAS for an introductory price of Rs 18.50 Lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tata Harrier is based on Tata’s OMEGARC platform which is derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform. Powering the Harrier is Tata’s 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Kryotec BS6 diesel engine producing 167 bhp and 35.6 kgm of torque. The engine is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The claimed fuel efficiency figures for the Harrier are 16.35 kpl for the MT version and 14.6 kpl for the AT version.
The Harrier XMS and XMAS will feature a panoramic sunroof, and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also get an 8-speaker sound system and a reverse parking camera in these variants. Until now the Panoramic Sunroof was available in the XT+ and XTA+ variants and above. The XT+ is priced at Rs 18.20 Lakh and the XTA+ is priced at Rs 19.50 Lakh (both ex-showroom). With the launch of these two new variants, customers looking for a sunroof can get it at Rs 1 Lakh less.
