The folks from Bavaria had commenced bookings for the full-fat i5 M60 xDrive not too long ago. Now, if you’re missing the E-Class rival, this is probably the right time for you to rush to your nearest dealer or the BMW website, because the BMW i5 M60 xDrive can now be yours from Rs 1.19 crore onwards (ex-showroom). Why you want to rush is because deliveries will be done on a first-come-first-serve basis, and there are a limited number of units available!
You already know what the i5 M60 xDrive looks like; it’s got that illuminated kidney ‘grille’, and and the front apron finished in black for contrast. The headlamps are rather sleek as well. While Boss Gallardo thinks it bears resemblance to a certain muscle car, I disagree, but we’ll let you be the better judge of how it looks. The profile is clean and minimalist, featuring two creases at the shoulder line and lower on the doors. At the rear, the sleek treatment continues with the tail lights, while the bumper receives a diffuser-like apron finished in black.
So what’s it capable of doing? Well, the all-wheel drive setup produces 592 bhp and 83.61 kgm of torque, with a claimed top speed of 230 kph and a 0-100 kph time of just 3.8 seconds. The 81.2 kWh battery pack claims to offer 516 km on a single charge. You can use a 11 kW AC wallbox charger to top up the battery in 8.25 hours. A 205 kW DC fast charging station will provide a 10-80% charge in just 30 minutes, while the optional 22 kW AC charger will reduce charging time down to 4.25 hours.
Once inside, the snazzy-looking interaction bar doubles up as an ambient lighting unit, and we can’t wait to see how it looks in real life. The Curved Display setup features a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touch screen running on BMW Operating Sytem 8.5. Adaptive suspension is available as standard, along with Sport seats with active ventilation, and the 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system. There’s also a whole set of ADAS features such as driver attentiveness, steering and lane control, remote parking, and cruise control among others.
