The Nissan X-Trail might sound familiar to those above a certain age. Nissan’s premium SUV is all set to return after a long absence, with the Japanese car maker finally expanding its lineup, which has only consisted of the Magnite for a while now. The fourth-generation X-Trail was part of Nissan’s feasibility study for India and has been showcased earlier in 2022.
Globally, the fourth-gen Nissan X-Trail is offered with a set of petrol and hybrid powertrains; two 1.5-litre units available with either a turbo or a strong-hybrid setup, and there is also a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder mill. As for what we will be getting here in India could be anybody’s guess for now, but reports are leaning strongly towards the 1.5-litre turbo. The X-Trail will also be equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a head-up display, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa connectivity, 3D maps, live traffic, and an ADAS suite among other things.
The Nissan X-Trail will likely be brought in as a CBU, and it will compete against the Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Skoda Kodiaq. Nissan is also preparing the Magnite facelift for later this year, while a Creta rival and more models are likely to follow next year.
