Almost two months after the Hilux’s unveiling, Toyota India has finally revealed the Hilux’s prices. It’s available in two trims — STD and High. The STD trim only comes with a manual gearbox and is priced at Rs 33.99 lakh. The top-most version of the High trim gets an automatic gearbox for Rs 36.80 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Mumbai).
It is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine with 201 bhp that can be combined with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The manual gearbox delivers 42.82 kgm of torque, while the automatic produces a whopping 50.99 kgm. Oh, and all of its variations are 4X4 capable. Moreover, it gets an automated limited-slip differential, electronic differential lock, electronic drive switch and downhill assist control, among other things.
Toyota markets the Hilux as a luxury utility vehicle, with features such as all-LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and front and rear parking sensors, to name a few. It comes equipped with seven airbags, ISOFIX child seat restraint system, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill assist, and downhill assist electronic controls, as well as vehicle stability control, traction control, and hill assist and downhill assist electronic controls. Aside from that, ASEAN NCAP gave it a 5-star grade for collision safety.
Bookings for the Hilux had already begun in January, but in February, it put a halt to bookings due to supply shortages and heavy demand. We’ll let you know what the Hilux is like as soon as we get our hands on one.
