Toyota Innova Hycross was unveiled in India last month and is now available at a starting price of Rs 18.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The Innova Hycross is available in seven- or eight-seat configurations, as well as five variants: G, GX, VX, ZX, and ZX (O). It is also available with a petrol or petrol-hybrid drivetrain.
The new Innova Hycross has a monocoque chassis and is based on Toyota’s TNGA-C platform. It has a big trapezoidal grille up front and narrow LED headlights on either side. The front bumper includes triangle vents with slim LED DRLs, while the rear features wraparound tail lamps with a chrome strip in the centre. This definitely makes the new model appear beefier than the Crysta.
The strong-hybrid powertrain is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder powerplant that uses an Atkinson or Miller cycle to improve fuel efficiency. The Hybrid powertrain has a total output of 181 bhp and is paired to an e-Drive transmission. The non-hybrid version of the same 2.0-litre engine produces 172 bhp and 20.09 kgm of torque and is mated to a CVT transmission. Both Innova Hycross versions are front-wheel drive only, with no manual transmission available. Toyota claims a fuel efficiency rating of 23.24 kpl for the hybrid, whereas the normally aspirated variant claims a score of 16.13 kpl.
Inside, it has a three-spoke steering wheel and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The centre console features a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen entertainment system, a gear lever, and an automatic parking brake, among other things.
