Volkswagen India has introduced a new 1-litre engine on the VW Polo hatchback. Prices remain unchanged, and the said unit replaces the 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine.
The company mentions that without compromising the performance of the Polo (P), the new 1-litre naturally aspirated MPI engine delivers an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 18.78 kpl. It generates a maximum power of 75 bhp and 9.7 kgm.
VW Passenger Cars India’s Director, Steffen Knapp said, “Delivering on our promise of continued product introduction and innovation, we are pleased to introduce the Polo in an all-new 1.0 L MPI engine. We are known for our performance and unmatched safety and with this new introduction; we further enhance our brand proposition, providing a diverse portfolio to India’s distinctive car-buyer, with multiple engine options that best suits their requirements.”
Prices for the Polo start at Rs 5.41 lakh for the base petrol version. The rest of the model range remains unchanged. As you must know, there’s also a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit. The latter is AT only. You can also buy a three-door version of the Polo with roomful of upgrades, including a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a performance that can put many an executive saloon to shame.
