Recently we did get a preview of the all-new Taigun’s production version, but it was only limited to the exterior bit. However, Volkswagen has now shared an official picture of the Taigun‘s interiors along with the list of features. Also, here’s what Klaus Zyciora, Head of Volkswagen Group Design has to say about its exteriors, ‘The Taigun is a design statement; it’s a combination of dynamism, power and space well complimented with legendary safety, build quality & functionality of a Volkswagen.’
The Taigun houses Volkswagen’s new logo on the front grille with generous chrome on it. The headlights are LED matrix and come with DRLs, and it sits on 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Further, Zyciora speaks about the Taigun’s rear design, ‘The Taigun has the most distinctive rear within its segment. The width spanning C-shaped continuous LED tail lamp marks a strong rear end design. This superior, sporty character further adds to the overall aesthetics of the Taigun.’
Finally, coming to the Taigun’s interiors. It has an elevated driving position, has spacious rear seats thanks to its 2651 mm wheelbase. Also, the flat centre tunnel helps in adding more space for the passenger occupying the middle seat. Talk about features, it gets a 25.4-cm touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, USB Type-C charging ports, multi-function steering wheel, among others.
On the safety front, the Taigun will come equipped with up to 6 airbags, ESC, 3 headrests at rear, 3-point seat belts, ISOFIX and adjustable headrest for all. In addition to that, it even has a tyre pressure deflation warning system and rear park distance control.
Powering the Taigun will be two powertrain options. There will be a 113-bhp 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 148-bhp 1.5-litre TSI, four-cylinder unit with a combination of three transmission options for customers to choose from. Either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed auto torque converter gearbox can be opted for the 1.0-litre TSI, while the 1.5-litre TSI gets a choice of 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT.
Lastly, the Head of Volkswagen Design, Jozef Kabaň said, ‘The all-new Volkswagen Taigun has been designed and developed specifically for India. The country has a rich and diverse set of people with individual requirements and lifestyles. The design elements of the Taigun cater as much to these requirements, making the carline a superior and robust offering for the Indian customer.’
