What is it? The chain cleaner and chain lube from the Castrol Auto Care range of products are pretty much basic necessities in terms of regular motorcycle maintenance that you can carry out on your own. The two products work hand in hand to keep your motorcycle chain free from corrosion and operating smoothly.
Is it any good? Using the Castrol chain cleaner and chain lube is fairly simple; one just has to follow the directions on the respective cans. We gave our motorcycle a good wash, after which we put it on the centre stand and used the chain cleaner and a brush to remove any residual grime. It worked like a charm, and within minutes, the chain and sprocket looked as good as new once they were wiped dry with a microfiber cloth. One pass was all it needed, so that says a good deal about its effectiveness.
Next in line was the chain lube, which we sprayed evenly on the chain once it was dry. It eliminated all squeaks from the chain and left a thin layer of lubrication that would go on to keep the chain free from rust while also helping to reduce the wear and tear on the chain. That translates to a longer gap between rushing to the service centre to replace a worn-out chain and, overall, tension-free rides in the rain. It would serve well to remember to carry out regular maintenance with these two products at regular intervals (once every two weeks in this weather) so that your chain doesn’t give up before its due time. The Castrol chain cleaner and chain lube are good, affordable products that are easily accessible, too, and we can recommend them with confidence
