Everyone knows what the facelifted Hyundai i20 looks like. However, the reason we are talking about it is because Hyundai has released teasers of its premium hatchback. The facelifted i20 not only gets cosmetic tweaks, but it also gets some serious additions to its equipment list.
Let’s get the basics out of the way though – the Hyundai i20 facelift is unlikely to feature any mechanical changes, and we expect it to retain the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated and the 1-litre turbo petrol engines. Those looking for a diesel will have to look in the direction of the Tata Altroz, as Hyundai discontinued the 1.5-litre diesel engine at the onset of the BS6 Phase two norms.
The facelifted i20 gets a reworked front profile with a new grille which is wider, while the Hyundai logo now sits on the bonnet. The headlights are now shaped differently with DRLs on top. The side profile and even the rear remain more or less identical, except for the fact that dual-tone treatment has now become prominent on the rear bumper.
On the inside, the facelifted i20 receives slight tweaks, such as a more rectangular-shaped gear lever, and an instrument cluster similar to the one on the Alcazar. However, it retains the 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system. In global markets, the i20 facelift also receives a driver assistance suite, with features such as forward collision assist, high speed warning, lane keep assist, and lane follow assist among others. Whether Hyundai will introduce these features in the facelifted i20 in our market remains uncertain for now. However, we can expect the in-built dashcam to make an appearance.
We expect the facelifted Hyundai i20 to receive a marginal hike over its current price tag, which begins from Rs 7.45 lakh (ex-showroom), and goes up to Rs 11.87 lakh (ex-showroom). Stay tuned and follow our social media handles for more news!
