Teasers of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R are all over social media right now, and we cannot wait for our chance to ride it. Oh, and also, the ZX-6R is also likely on its way here as well!
For now, let’s focus on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R, which was unveiled globally not very long ago. Styling-wise, it sticks to the typical Kawasaki design language, bearing resemblance to the other larger Ninjas in the lineup. While globally it is offered in three different specs — the ZX-4R, the SE, and the ZX-4RR, it remains to be seen whether Kawasaki will bring all three specs to India or not.
In terms of the powertrain, the ZX-4R gets a 399cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine, which puts out 76.4 bhp at 14,500 rpm, and 4 kgm of torque at 13,000 rpm. With RAM Air intake, the power figure goes up to 78.7 bhp. To give you some context, the Ninja 400 produces 44.7 bhp at 10,000 rpm. This engine is paired with a six-speed transmission, and Kawasaki offers a quickshifter as an accessory in global markets.
The Kawasaki ZX-4R is underpinned by a high-tensile steel trellis frame, which is suspended on 37mm separate function USD forks at the front and a monoshock with pre-load adjustability. In terms of braking equipment, it makes use of monobloc four-piston callipers, radially mounted on 290-mm semi-floating twin discs at the front, while the rear receives a single-piston calliper mounted on a 220-mm disc.
Prices of the Kawasaki ZX-4R have not yet been announced globally. However, the ZX-4RR can be had in global markets from USD 9,699 onwards, which translates to about Rs 8.05 lakh without taxes. We can expect the ZX-4R to fall around a similar price tag as it will come in as a CBU, along with other taxes.
