The Board of Directors of JSW MG Motor India has appointed Parth Jindal as the company’s new Chairman, effective immediately. The elevation places the JSW Group scion at the helm of the joint venture as it enters an aggressive phase of expansion, electrification, and domestic manufacturing.
Jindal is no newcomer to the automaker’s strategic engine room. Having served as a Director on the board since JSW Group acquired a strategic stake in the SAIC Motor-owned brand, he has been instrumental in shaping the company’s long-term roadmap. His focus has centered heavily on product strategy, expanding production capacity, and accelerating localization across both platforms and battery supply chains.
The leadership transition coincides with significant momentum for the brand in the Indian market. Driven by models like the Windsor EV, the carmaker has established a firm foothold in the new-energy vehicle (NEV) space. To support this growth, JSW MG Motor India is rolling out substantial capital investments to scale annual production capacity at its Halol facility in Gujarat to 2.2 lakh units by 2028, while targeting up to 70 per cent domestic localisation.

Currently, SAIC Motor holds a 49 per cent stake in the joint venture, while JSW Group owns 35 per cent, with the remainder held by Indian institutional investors, employees, and dealers. Jindal’s appointment comes as JSW reportedly explores increasing its holding to become the majority shareholder, reinforcing the brand’s pivot toward deeper Indian ownership and localised market responsiveness.
Beyond the automotive venture, Jindal maintains an extensive leadership footprint across the conglomerate. He serves as the Managing Director of JSW Cement and JSW Paints, Chairman of JSW Dulux, and a Director on the board of JSW Energy, alongside leading JSW Sports and co-owning the IPL franchise Delhi Capitals. His chairmanship at JSW MG Motor India cements automotive manufacturing as a central pillar of JSW’s industrial ambitions.
