Skoda Auto Volkswagen India surpasses the milestone of exporting 6-lakh vehicles. This outcome is the responsibility of the organisation in charge of running Volkswagen group brands’ operations in India. The Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Vento models, pioneers in their respective niches, marked Volkswagen’s entry into exporting.
On the same path, the Volkswagen Virtus, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq have advanced. In Mexico, the GCC nations, the Sub-Saharan region, North Africa, and other Asian markets, to name a few, the models built in India are in high demand. The Kushaq is notable for being the first Skoda automobile to be exported from India.
“Exports from India are an integral part of our global strategy,” said Piyush Arora, managing director and CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, in response to the announcement. A big accomplishment is passing the 600,000 unit threshold. India’s strategic location and engineering prowess have been crucial to our expanding exports. The fact that the Volkswagen Taigun, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Kushaq are continuing the successful export history established by the Indian-made VW Polo and VW Vento and are receiving the same acclaim and acceptance abroad as they do in India fills us with great satisfaction.
Beginning in 2024, parts and components for the Indian-built Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Slavia models are expected to be supplied to Vietnam. A cutting-edge 16,000 square metre plant is currently being built in Chakan, Pune, to manufacture these, helping to allow this development.
Global NCAP has given all four India 2.0 models complete 5-star safety ratings for both adult and kid occupants. In the Latin NCAP crash tests, the Volkswagen Taigun and Volkswagen Virtus, which are made locally for international markets, both received an exceptional 5-star safety certification.
