The Tata Harrier facelift and Safari facelift have finally shed the camouflage, and we now get to see both these cars in full glory. Now when we say that the wait is almost over, we mean that the prices are yet to be announced. However, this facelift is a much-needed one, as both the Harrier and the Safari benefit from completely revamped interiors, addition of new features, and design updates. Bookings for the Tata Harrier facelift and the Tata Safari facelift are now open for a price of Rs 25,000.
Both the Harrier and the Safari facelift will be available in various ‘personas’ — basically Tata’s terminology for different variants. The grille has been completely redesigned, appearing to be more ‘in-your-face’ than the outgoing models. Similar to the Nexon facelift, the Harrier and the Safari also receive a light strip connecting the headlamps, which are also much more sleeker in appearance and are now full-LED units. The panel hiding the ADAS sensor makes its presence known rather well in the centre of the lower bumper. Things at the rear have undergone massive changes as well, with a full-length strip connecting the tail-lamps, and the placement of reflectors on either sides of the bumper. According to Tata, both cars receive the same 19-inch alloys with aero inserts, but we shall wait for the launch to spot any differences, if we can.
The interiors are where you are bound to see a lot of changes. The centre-console is similar to the one on the Nexon facelift — a touch-sensitive panel with buttons for fan speed and temperature adjustment. The steering wheel, too, is the same as on the Nexon, with a gloss-black panel and an illuminated Tata logo. Both cars receive a 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment system, voice commands in six languages, Alexa connectivity, a 360-degree camera, ventilated powered front seats with memory function, powered tailgate with gesture function, a ten-speaker JBL sound system with subwoofer and thirteen ‘advance sound modes’, and ESP with 17 functions among others.
Additionally, the Tata Harrier facelift and Safari facelift also receive an ADAS suite, which includes features such as adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, autonomous emergency braking, forward and rear collision warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot alert, lane change and departure warning among others. Both cars also get seven airbags as well. The Tata Safari facelift further gets the benefit of second-row ventilated seats.
Under the hood, the Tata Harrier facelift and the Safari facelift retain the same 2-litre turbo diesel engine with 167 bhp and 35.6 kgm of torque. This engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual, or a six-speed automatic. Those choosing the automatic also finally get the option of paddle shifters. And if you’re wondering about the 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol powertrains shown at the 2023 Auto Expo, they will be going under the hood of the Harrier and Safari too, but only once the production-spec Curvv and Sierra make their debuts sometime in 2024.
