Honda has announced a recall for 1,90,578 cars in India. As a part of a voluntary, global recall made by Honda, the company will replace the defective airbag inflators used in Takata-supplied airbags.
Who’s affected?
Fret not if you happen to own any of the current generation vehicles because the recall doesn’t affect them. The ones part of the recall include all Accords made between ’03 and ’11; CR-Vs between ’09 and ’11; Civics made in ’07, and between ’09 and ’11; Citys made between ’08 and ’11, and examples of Jazz produced between ’09 and ’11.
What to do?
The replacement of the defective part (inflator on the front airbags) will first begin for the CR-V and the Civic, while the campaign for the rest of the products begin in September 2016 onwards. The company says, the procedure will of course be free of cost, but will take place at Honda dealerships in a phased manner.
Honda customers can check if their vehicles are affected by entering the 17-character VIN on the company’s recall-related section on the official website.
