In a bold move signalling its electric future, Bentley has revealed a dramatically redesigned Winged B emblem ahead of its highly anticipated concept car debut on July 8. The updated logo – developed through an internal design competition won by Interior Design team member Young Nam – presents a striking evolution of Bentley’s 105-year-old insignia while preserving its aviation-inspired heritage.

Gone are the soft, symmetrical wings of yesteryear. The new emblem features razor-sharp, falcon-inspired wings that convey dynamic motion, with all feather detailing removed for minimalist impact. At its heart lies a precision-crafted 3D ‘B’ inspired by luxury watchmaking, complete with beveled glass effect, chamfered metallic borders, and recessed detailing. This central badge has been engineered to function as a standalone symbol for digital applications, reflecting Bentley’s transition into the EV era.

Design Director Robin Page explains the philosophy: “We wanted to retain the emotional connection to our history while creating something distinctly modern. The new wings suggest speed and agility – qualities that will define our future electric vehicles.”

The winged B traces its origins to 1919 when automotive artist F. Gordon Crosby captured founder W.O. Bentley’s aviation background (he designed rotary engines for WWI aircraft) in the original asymmetrical design. In a clever anti-counterfeiting measure, Crosby gave each wing a different number of feathers.

The emblem transformed in 1931 after Rolls-Royce’s acquisition, adopting symmetrical 10-feather wings and a formal black oval background – a configuration that remained largely unchanged for nearly a century. This latest redesign marks only the fourth major iteration in Bentley’s history.

The timing is strategic. Bentley will unveil an all-new concept car on July 8 that previews its first fully electric production model arriving in 2025. The sharper logo aligns with what insiders describe as the brand’s most radical design language yet – one that blends Bentley’s signature craftsmanship with aerodynamic EV proportions.

Early glimpses suggest the concept will feature the new badge prominently on its illuminated grille and steering wheel, while a simplified wing motif appears in the digital interface and ambient lighting.

As Bentley prepares to write its next chapter, this redesigned emblem serves as both a nod to its storied past and a wingbeat toward an electric future. One thing remains certain: even in the age of electrons, the Flying B still soars.

Stay tuned for Bentley’s concept reveal on July 8!
