Elon Musk’s long-teased Tesla Diner officially opened its doors this Monday in Hollywood, California, blending retro Americana vibes with futuristic innovation. As a one-of-a-kind drive-in diner meets EV charging station, the establishment has quickly captured global attention — not just for its design and amenities, but also for its food and beverage offerings.
Described as a “retro-futuristic diner and a drive-in charging experience rolled into one,” the two-storey Tesla Diner promises more than your average roadside stop. The space features Supercharger bays, massive 45-foot movie screens, and even Tesla Optimus humanoid robots delivering food — a visual and technological spectacle tailored to the Tesla ethos.
Customers can order food right from their Tesla touchscreens, with the diner’s audio and film content streaming seamlessly through the vehicle’s sound system. Whether parked or dining inside, the immersive experience is a nod to classic American drive-ins, elevated with cutting-edge tech.
But beyond the theatrics, the diner’s menu is drawing plenty of interest. Tesla has emphasized its focus on sustainability and quality, stating that the vast majority of ingredients are locally sourced within the range of a single full charge of a Tesla vehicle. According to the company, the diner is rooted in “responsibly sourced, sustainable local products,” aligning with Tesla’s broader green initiatives.
While the full menu hasn’t been officially released in detail, early visitors have shared glimpses of American comfort food classics, like burgers, milkshakes, loaded fries, breakfast staples, and gourmet coffee options. Prices appear competitive, with many items matching or undercutting typical Los Angeles diner rates — another surprise given the venue’s high-tech polish.
Elon Musk confirmed the diner is just the beginning. “If our retro-futuristic diner turns out well, which I think it will, Tesla will establish these in major cities around the world, as well as Supercharger sites on long distance routes,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
With its unique combination of utility, novelty, and eco-consciousness, the Tesla Diner might just redefine roadside stops for the electric age — starting with Hollywood and soon, perhaps, a city near you.
