Kia India has teased the second-generation Seltos, which is slated to debut in India on December 10th. The first generation of the Seltos came to India in 2019, with its facelift debuting in mid-2023. The new Seltos will have a major design overhaul, as is the case with generational changes for any car.

The new Seltos will feature Kia’s Opposites United design language. The teasers hint at a completely new front and rear-end design, a new profile, new alloy wheels and more. The new Seltos will have headlamps very similar to the Kia EV2, with vertically stacked LED DRLs. At the back, too, we can see similarities with the new Carens Clavis and Carens Clavis EV, with the C-shaped tail lamps.

In profile, it is evident that the new Seltos will have flush-fitting door handles, like we’ve seen on the Kia Syros. Just like last time, the new Seltos also has a floating roof design, but it’s more prominent now. While previously that was achieved with a chrome strip, this time the D-pillar has a blacked-out finish for a more prominent design. In the previous generation, the chrome strip was under the windows, and it has now moved above the windows.

Kia has not yet teased the interior of the new Seltos, but expect it to be completely revamped. Expect a new touchscreen, a new digital instrument cluster, and a new dashboard and centre console design. Expect the new Seltos to have several new features as well, since it is a generational upgrade.

The new Seltos is expected to carry forward the same powertrains as before – a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Gearbox options are likely to be unchanged too, and it should come with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed torque converter automatic, a CVT and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. It remains to be seen if Kia will give the new Seltos a hybrid powertrain.

Once launched, sometime early next year, the new Seltos will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Sierra and Citroen Aircross.
