Maruti Suzuki’s latest entrant in the compact-SUV market is the all-new Fronx, launched at Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier this year, at the Auto Expo 2023, the Fronx was first unveiled. And recently, Pablo got behind its wheels in Goa; you can read his story here.
The Fronx is a direct rival to the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon. It even has a decent list of features to compete with all these compact SUVs. For instance, the Fronx gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, a heads-up display, and more than 40 connected car features. The Fronx also gets six airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Assist with Roll Over Mitigation, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX.
You get to choose between two engine options on the Fronx. It gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 89 bhp and 11.53 kgm of torque. It can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The second engine option is a brand-new 1.0-litre K-Series Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine that produces 99 bhp and 15.09 kgm. This engine is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The Maruti Fronx is also offered through Maruti Suzuki Subscribe, with monthly payments beginning at Rs 17,378. The prices for the 1.2-litre petrol engine start from Rs 7.47 lakh to Rs 9.28 lakh. As for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, the prices start from Rs 9.73 lakh to Rs13.14 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
