The Motoverse 2023 has had a grand start with the launch of the all-new Himalayan. This new ADV from RE has been priced at Rs 2.69 lakh onwards (ex-showroom Chennai), making it the most affordable bike in its segment.
Variant | Colour | Price |
Base | Kaza Brown | Rs 2.69 lakh |
Pass | Slate Himalayan Salt | Rs 2.74 lakh |
Slate Himalayan Poppy Blue | Rs 2.74 lakh | |
Summit | Kamet White | Rs 2.79 lakh |
Hanle Black | Rs 2.84 lakh |
(all prices ex-showroom Chennai)
Interestingly, even the top variant — Summit, is almost the same price as the KTM 390 Adventure X. This means that the Himalayan is a fair deal more affordable than the likes of the BMW G 310 GS and the standard and SW variant of the 390 Adventure.
The new Himalayan has some serious equipment despite being lighter on the pocket. Its 452cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine packs 39.47 bhp and 4.07 kgm and comes mated with a 6-speed transmission.
Though the company is not offering fully-adjustable suspension, there’s a bunch of accessories, including tubeless spoked rims, though they are yet to be homologated. Furthermore, with its new TFT dash, it packs the most sorted navigation screen, too.
But is it really worth the ‘Himalayan’ tag? Well, we rode the bike in the Himalayas, and here’s what we think.
