The Wagoneer isn’t exactly a famous Jeep name in India, and in fact, saying it fast enough may remind people of a certain cabbie-favourite car, but let’s not waste our time on that. The Wagoneer name goes all the way back to 1963, and while it was laid to rest in 1993, Jeep revived the Wagoneer (and sub-consequently the Grand Wagoneer) sometime in 2022. The American car maker has now confirmed the all-electric Wagoneer S is set to make its global debut in late-2024.
While details continue to remain scarce for now, Jeep has shared certain targets it intends for the Wagoneer S to achieve. For example, the American car maker is targeting a range of 643 km on a single charge, while also producing 591 bhp from its electric motors. The Wagoneer S will also come with all-wheel drive, along with a terrain management system. No mention on what platform will the Wagoneer be spawned off of, though.
Thanks to images released by Jeep back in September 2022, we also know what the all-electric Wagoneer S is going to look like. While the Jeep Wagoneer S certainly appears to be in concept stage in said images, the car maker has confirmed it will retain the reimagined LED-backlit seven-slot grille.
Currently, the American car maker sells the Compass, Meridian, Wrangler, and the Grand Cherokee in India, and it has not made any official announcements regarding the launch of the Wagoneer S after its global unveil. However, Jeep did say that the electric luxury SUV will be sold in “key markets around the world”, which could possibly mean good news. However, we will be back once the car maker drops an official announcement.
