Bentley had some big news to share recently, confirming the existence of a new V8 hybrid powertrain. This means that the original 6.0-litre twin-turbo powertrain is now heading off into the sunset after 23 years of service. Bentley now claims that the next-generation Continental GT will be the most powerful and the best handling road-car in its history, while also retaining handcrafted luxury and other premium elements associated with the car maker.
The next-generation Continental GT will feature active all wheel drive with torque vectoring, four-wheel steering, an electronic limited slip differential, active anti-roll control and new dual-valve dampers. Powered by the new hybrid V8 powertrain, the new Continental GT will produce 771 bhp and 101.9 kgm of torque, while also being capable of running 80 km in electric-only mode.
In terms of design, images of a camouflaged model are doing the rounds, but it’s easy to tell the fascia of the new Continental GT will be revamped, featuring a new grille, new bumper and single round headlights that are likely to highlight Bentley’s new design language moving forward, thus replacing the twin headlights. The profile also appears more streamlined, while the rear will also feature a revised design with new tail lights, tailgate and a bumper.
