Honda has unveiled the extensively redesigned 2027 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade range at EICMA 2026, introducing revised styling, new aerodynamics and chassis updates. The lineup comprises the standard Fireblade, Fireblade SP and a new HRC Works Edition, developed with a greater focus on World Superbike racing.

Around 75 per cent of the Fireblade’s components have been redesigned. While retaining its familiar full-fairing supersport silhouette, the new motorcycle gets a revised aerodynamic package and updated bodywork. The most significant addition is the new HRC Works Edition, which features carbon-fibre front winglets, a carbon-fibre front fender and a rear duct fairing. These components are designed to improve aerodynamic performance while reducing weight. The SP variant also gets a distinctive titanium fuel tank with an exposed, hand-finished hairline surface and a new silver-and-black Honda Wing emblem.

The standard Fireblade and SP feature a newly designed aluminium twin-tube frame. Developed using gravity die-casting technology, the frame is 440g lighter than before, with lateral rigidity reduced by 20 per cent while retaining torsional rigidity. The redesigned aluminium swingarm also gets a 12 per cent reduction in lateral rigidity to improve rear tyre contact and feedback while cornering.

Suspension specifications vary across the range. The standard Fireblade gets Showa Big Piston Forks at the front and BFRC-Lite suspension at the rear, while the SP continues with electronically controlled Öhlins NIX30 suspension at the front and TTX36 at the rear, now upgraded to Smart-EC3.0. The HRC Works Edition gets mechanically adjustable Öhlins NPX front forks and TTX36 rear suspension. Braking on the Works Edition is handled by Brembo Hypure components.

Power comes from a 999cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four engine. One of the major additions is a two-stage variable-length intake funnel system, a first for a mass-produced Honda motorcycle. It changes the effective length and diameter of the intake passage depending on engine speed. Above 11,750rpm, the upper funnel moves upwards, allowing the engine to maintain high-rpm performance while improving low- and mid-range power delivery.

Honda has also refined the two-motor throttle-by-wire system for more precise throttle response and improved engine braking. The Fireblade SP additionally benefits from magnesium engine components, contributing to a weight reduction of more than 200g.

The HRC Works Edition is developed as a homologation model for the FIM Superbike World Championship. It also gets dedicated HRC racing components, including revised engine management and ignition systems, a bottom-neutral shift system and other race-specific hardware. Despite its competition-focused equipment, the motorcycle is designed to meet road-legal requirements in individual markets.

Alongside the Fireblade, Honda also showcased the new CBR500R FOUR in Europe. The middleweight sports motorcycle combines a four-cylinder engine with Honda E-Clutch technology, which automates clutch operation while retaining conventional gear selection. Honda describes it as a combination of its four-cylinder heritage and newer rider-friendly technology.

The 2027 CBR1000RR-R range also uses sustainable materials, including plant-derived plastic for the windscreen and recycled materials for the seat bases and several body components.

Honda has not announced India launch details or pricing for either model.
